The home side's a player shields the ball from the opposition's Leny Yoro in the Premier League clash at Elland Road. At a Glance Dominic Calvert-Lewin sees a early header come back off the upright. Aaronson puts the hosts ahead with a well-placed effort in the second half. Cunha responds just three minutes afterwards. Leeds continue their best Premier League undefeated streak since the turn of the century. The Red Devils' poor recent struggles continued at Leeds' fortress, but head coach the Portuguese tactician had his Brazilian forward to thank for his side not suffering even more disappointment against their old rivals. Dominic Calvert-Lewin directed a first-period attempt against the woodwork for the confident home team before the American midfielder applied a cool finish with a low, 62nd-minute effort. At that stage, the United boss was under intense scrutiny after his side had failed to beat struggling Wolves at Old Trafford earlier in the week. Nevertheless, against a team who had less time to prepare, Cunha restored parity three minutes later when he ran on to a pass from substitute the Dutchman and slid a finish underneath rushing Leeds goalkeeper Lucas Perri. It was only the Brazilian's fourth Premier League goal since his high-profile summer move and came at a time when Amorim is without four key attacking players due to a mix of injury and national team commitments. Not that the hosts to sympathise with that given their own tight schedule. Noah Okafor forced a diving save out of Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens with a spectacular overhead kick, and visiting heads were in hands when the Slovenian striker, who is struggling to make an impression, turned Zirkzee's cut-back wide from close range. Cunha, who had a goal ruled out for offside much earlier in the contest, also fired against a post late on. The point extends Leeds' unbeaten run to seven matches, their best such streak since over two decades ago, and takes them eight points clear of the relegation zone. For the Manchester United though, it was yet another chance to move into the Champions League places, albeit only for a matter of hours, wasted. Man Utd Analysis: Amorim's Side Misfire Again With the Africa Cup of Nations reaching its knockout phase, the United coach could be forgiven for hoping the involved countries make a pretty quick exit. Current injuries to skipper Bruno Fernandes and Three Lions star Mason Mount only heightened the impact the absence of other forwards is having on the team's squad. It's not that the absent players are the solution to all of United's problems. After all, they were part of the side that suffered disappointing results earlier in the campaign. But without them, the boss has few attacking options. He evidently does not have full faith in youngster Shea Lacey or the much more experienced Joshua Zirkzee, even though the Dutch forward delivered the assist for Cunha's equaliser almost instantly after his arrival as a replacement. That leaves Cunha, who has now scored three goals in recent outings, and others playing out of their natural positions, alongside Benjamin Sesko. On this showing, the big-money frontman looks no better than previous struggling signings, lacking in belief and conviction in front of goal. Sesko's failure to turn home the cross means it is now a long run without a goal for the young striker. Leeds Analysis: A Further Step Towards Safety After thrilling victories in their last few home games, the arrival of their fiercest rivals to Elland Road was a comparatively subdued affair. True, there were instances of typical atmosphere, but the intimidating edge was not as pronounced as in other fixtures. The home fans were more concerned about their side's struggle to get worthwhile possession in advanced areas for any prolonged period. The striker's header that clipped the post was an rare moment of quality in a congested first half. It still felt as though the hosts were finding it tough when a defensive error opened the door for the opener. For a short moment, Leeds' delirious fans thought they were about to secure a coveted win against their old foes. Nevertheless, there is a much bigger picture for the manager and Leeds to deal with. When they endured a poor run of form earlier in the campaign, many thought about the manager's position. In contrast, he is now overseeing significant progress. The job is not done yet but step by step, Leeds are getting closer to securing their survival. Looking Ahead Leeds have a top-flight trip to St James' Park in midweek, followed by the start of their domestic cup campaign next weekend. Manchester United face a league trip to Turf Moor before also entering their FA Cup journey with a Old Trafford tie.
