A fellow writer previously argued supporting a scary games classification. That would be fantastic. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist for pushing forward since similar to blinkered fanatics, there's a strong justification backing this proposal remains most pressing and significant. This is the request: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games. Organizing Gaming Categories Classifying creative works is not a science; it’s very subjective, and it will always spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. There’s a reason movie academies don’t do it. But it is a necessary evil in the world of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they hardly constitute a single creative category. For the full spectrum of interactive entertainment excellence to receive acknowledgment, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, classification by type becomes crucial. Current Gaming Award Categories Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature classifications covering Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these classifications successfully include numerous genres, making space possible accommodating various experiences. Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Consider three of outstanding current releases, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles from a specific release, intense tile-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios from additional release. Which classification works within current classifications? Unfortunately, nowhere. The Representation Problem There are dozens outstanding logic titles published annually without proper recognition in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify award groups including Mobile Game, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive independent game categories. A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated in any category during that awards season A different innovative game received no nominations during that ceremony A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment in 2021 Only a few brain-teasers managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications Importance of Logic Titles These are often compact experiences, but the art of the puzzle game holds tremendous importance. Well-known matching games rank among most engaged experiences in the world and have been for an extended period. The legendary block-stacking game competes with popular creative games for the title of most purchased experience; it also contends for top gaming experience. Brain-teasers form essential building blocks within interactive entertainment, while interacting with diverse game types. Recommendation and Reasoning Logic titles wouldn't face that issue. It would be easy to populate a field of five interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences. And to reiterate, these are games lacking appropriate categories during prominent ceremonies. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Comparable to cinema stunt performers, they deserve recognition. Don't make them wait decades.
